First Fridays in the Exchange We are pleased to announce that Jackie Traverse will be working on a time lapse painting on her iPad in the theme of Orange Shirt Day. Feel free to stop in and visit.

Jackie Traverse is a graduate from the school of fine arts at the University of Manitoba. She is an Anishinabe from Lake St. Martin, First Nations. Jackie works in all mediums from sculpture, mixed media, and video.

Jackie Traverse is already widely known in art communities across Canada. Her paintings, drawings, documentaries, and sculptures speak to realities of being an Indigenous woman.

She has created stop-motion animation on missing and murdered women in Canada. Jackie is deeply moved by the injustices faced by First Nations people.

Through her art she expresses her ideas and opinions while striving to inspire dialogue on addressing her people’s social issues. Jackie's painting is truly where her heart lies. She feels the strongest spiritual connection with all that she creates. Her happiest moments are when she is painting.

Canadian Plains Gallery is pleased to announce that Réal Dubois will be performing live music during First Fridays in the Exchange on July 3.
Métis musician and storyteller Réal Dubois creates songs rooted in lived experience, culture, and connection. A lifelong artist, she has performed for audiences across Canada.
Enjoy her music while exploring one of the best Indigenous art collections in Canada. Open until 10 pm.

Thank you to Victor Tssessaze for coming out to live paint on First Fridays in the Exchange. This is his before and after photos, a lot of time goes into creating a painting, more than the three hours he had here. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. Great to see 🙂🩵
