Delta! I’ll be Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment Sat. Oct 17 & T, Oct 20, 1-4pm! Self - guided tours or walk and talk around the room with me.

Is it grass and water or is it grass and sky. Beach day? Remember when our cabin nearly washed away?

Naturally, I tend to paint abstract landscapes as this is where I find calmness in my day to day life. Are these ripples of sounds? …That’s a vibe…

I love swimming, being close to running water, nature walks, and creating with colour.

Blue (like sky & water) is my most favorite colour as it has a powerful energy when it comes to healing, spirituality, and clarity.

This is my largest abstract painting in “Exploration of Contentment.” I previously showed it as a reel as a work in progress on my Instagram - find an earlier version video on my page Jordan Miller Artist

Story/From “Quiet Solitude Series”: If Simplicity Spoke, 30”x40” Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment

When acrylic painting, busy layers are built up to be loud and abstract. The colours are beautifully bold. They speak to the loud voice I have inside that I wish that I had as an artist in person. Gradually, I quiet the busy-ness to something soft/subtle.

I am not shy about who I am / my chronic illnesses that slow me down. I talk about realities and truthfulness. I have to prioritize my rest.

The loudness of the piece was softened to give a voice to breathe a single thought.

My work is conceptual in creation. It’s “contemporary” to my intuitive feeling within a moment of right here and right now.

You cannot see the simple beauty of this piece in a photo. You have to stand in front of it. October 17/20th, 1-4pm, I’ll be there!

Look to the left side. The detail there is the story of this piece. The simplicity of that little red line along the blue is “what spoke.”

There is a glow. A lift of life. A joyfulness expressed. The perception of sadness exists too as the drips that stayed feel like gentle slow tears. They are happy ones, the ones that feel like a breakthrough.

Sometimes there is a feeling of being left behind. This line strongly stands ground. “She” is something to hold on to. A voice that will stand up even when knocked down or pushed aside.

Life has become simpler in the last decade. Chronic fatigue has taken my public persona voice away. I am here and ask for acceptance in your circle.

When you see me that that is all I can afford for that day. For a few days following a push, rest is required. Being seen, being heard and being respected by myself and others is part of the artist journey.

Recently and quietly I broke the news of my neurodivergence. The reason I have to sit in my car for 30 minutes to an hour when I get home, in the cold, is to decompress from noise.

At 38, now 47, my tolerance slowed. Before I was out nightly, more wild! These days, I prefer small groups with real life chatter. I love mixing with people. I AM a people person. I also love quiet.

This show tells an abstract story of a woman who had to change. Open to Oct 22.

(Sold) Memories: A little spice is just nice Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment solo exhibit to Oct 22.

Fall is my most favourite season. Sept. flew by - suddenly become Oct.?

Growing up we had a wood stove in our basement. It was how we got through the long Manitoba winter as burning wood was more affordable than heating the house. The scent of freshly cut wood with a hint of smoke permeated through the house long after the light and heat of the fire had dimmed.

We had a wood pile a few yards over in an area we shared with our neighborhood friends. Small town living had its perks you would never experience in Winnipeg.

I remember hauling wood with the wheelbarrows. We were a hard working family. We had house chores every night and weekend. It was how my mom and my step dad managed a house with four kids. We were not well off. We worked together as a team. I understand it now as a 47 year old.

My step dad would chop wood with the axe, when we were older we all contributed to this chore. We’d carry the wood into the basement as a team. In the wintertime we used a sled and trudged through in our snowsuits and boots.

The rabbit ear tv had terrible reception so it was usually off. We enjoyed conversations around the dinner table. We had late night fires that made the house incredibly cozy. Tea, hot chocolate, and hot toddies for the adults. Hot chocolate always had the fake marshmallows floating mmmm goodness. What a treat!

These were some of the most joyful times in my life. I’m a home body, I always have enjoyed the closeness of friends and family without the extra hype.

Recently I started to explore what I refer to my own spice. And if you ask me what has been going on or how I am feeling, I will always tell you my exact truths. Why? Because I don’t always have a filter and not sharing how I am is not who I am. Why do we have to be shameful? Honest sauce, I am neurodivergent. I’m starting to sing wildly in the shower at full volume and when I am alone I talk to myself and my cat.

A little spice is just nice.

The fire inside of me has been burning too long.

“Exploration of Contentment” might make more sense now.

(Sold) Memories: Shores Awash, solo Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment con’t to October # 22.

Spring at Delta Beach where my Miller family had their cabin always made my family nervous.

We would be worried the force of ice and water would erode away our land in front of our cabin. Despite natures force, systems were put in place year after year to try to keep it safe. One year I remember no beach was visible - grass & water could be seen looking down to what was once the beach. It was devastating. Rock barriers were piled up. Flights of stairs added.

With Delta Beach this was odd. All summer long we could walk out on miles of beach before your toes touched the water/body was fully submerged. Tons of sandbars.

When I created this abstract piece, this memory popped into mind. Although we no longer have a cabin, wonderful and joyful memories of this time carry on inside my soul. My biological dad and grandparents have passed on. This is where most of my favourite memories of them lived.

At first I wasn’t going to take this piece and other memory pieces that have now sold at my show in Portage but I am really glad I did as several of the memories series in my exhibition have sold.

Steps to book a session:
1. Email me or DM me

2. Register with ($50) payment at time of booking a session (E-transfer or credit card)

3. Send a quick note of what your mentorship focus will be for the hour ie. gallery submissions, portfolio presentation etc.*

4. Sessions are all video calls (FaceTime, What’s App, FB or IG video) you don’t have to drive anywhere!

5. Available 7 days a week, mornings, afternoons, evenings. All sessions are 1 hour - multiple can be booked for when you need.

*reviewing long documents in advance is part of the hour fee, an additional hour needed to review documents is an additional fee. Ie. reviewing social media could take 10 minutes - reviewing an entire submission to a gallery could take an hour…
