One last look at two remarkable exhibitions that have filled MHC Gallery over the past weeks.

Do you enjoy textile art and discovering incredible details up close?

Visit MHC Gallery during the final week of Lamentation and Celebration and experience the work of Lois Klassen.

Through layered quilts and textile collages, Lois combines found needlework, recycled fabrics, and contemporary materials to create works rich in texture, memory, and meaning.

The closer you look, the more there is to discover.

If you make your way up to the second floor of the Gallery this weekend, you'll find Second Nature by Kae Sasaki.

Drawing on reclaimed Japanese vintage beads and other carefully gathered materials, Kae's work explores memory, transformation, and the stories that objects carry with them. Through processes of repetition, repair, and reassembly, familiar materials are given new life and meaning.

Spend some time looking closely; there are many details, textures, and unexpected discoveries waiting throughout the exhibition.

Second Nature is on view at MHC Gallery until June 20.

June is here, and with it comes the final weeks of Lamentation and Celebration by Lois Klassen. ⛅️

Based in Abbotsford, BC, Lois has been exploring quiltmaking and textile art for decades. Her work pushes the boundaries of traditional quilting through the use of found, recycled, and commercial fabrics, creating layered works rich in texture, memory, and meaning.

In Lamentation and Celebration, fragments of vintage needlework are brought into new conversations, carrying forward the stitches and stories of generations of women while reflecting on grief, loss, and the beauty that continues alongside them.

On view at MHC Gallery until June 20.

It's been a few hot days in Winnipeg! ☀️

If you're looking for a place to slow down and spend some time with art, visit THREE by Tammy Hendrickx in the Community Gallery.

This exhibition reflects on creativity, personal experience, and the women who helped shape Tammy's artistic journey, including her mother and grandmother. Through painting, drawing, and collage, THREE explores memory, connection, and the people who leave a lasting mark on our lives.

On view now through July 4.

This week, we said goodbye to our Gallery Director, Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk 📷

Sarah approached the Gallery with curiosity, care, and a deep belief in the power of art to build connection and dialogue. Through many exhibitions and events she helped create meaningful spaces for artists and community to come together.

We are deeply grateful for everything Sarah brought to MHC Gallery, and for the energy, creativity, and thoughtfulness she shared with this space over the years.

We wish her all the very best in this next chapter.

A good Saturday to spend some time at the Gallery 🍃🌸

Looking for a quiet moment? 🪑

The Connection Desk, by Gillian Crawford is a small participatory installation exploring grief, remembrance, and connection.

Inspired by the artist’s late father and the idea of speaking to those we’ve lost, visitors are invited to sit at the desk, lift the receiver of a disconnected rotary phone, and leave behind a thought, memory, or moment of reflection.

You can currently find The Connection Desk tucked inside the Main Gallery at MHC Gallery.
