Happy Pride Season from all of us at the Welland Museum 🌈
Pride Season refers to a wide range of events that usually take place over the summer to recognize and celebrate 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Originally starting as protests for 2SLGBTQI+ rights, Pride events have been held across Canada since at least 1973.

A little about Pride Niagara:
Pride Niagara celebrates the Niagara Region's sexual and gender-diverse community and its supporters. Established in 2010, they are the region's longest-operating not-for-profit organization exclusively serving Niagara's 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Over the past 16 years, they have partnered with a wide range of businesses and organizations, including Gillian's Place, the City of St. Catharines, Niagara College, Brock University, Niagara Falls History Museum, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara, FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, and the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, to name a few. At their core, Pride Niagara is dedicated to supporting local and especially 2SLGBTQI+ artists, organizations, businesses, and allies. Their events foster safe and positive spaces, build community connections, share information, provide outreach, and support local activism throughout the Niagara Region.
