Today, September 1st, marks a very special day in Twillingate’s history. 150 years ago, on September 1st, 1876, Long Point Lighthouse officially became operational, beginning its long history as Twillingate’s historic beacon. 🗼🌊

Come help us celebrate this incredible milestone! Climb the lighthouse tower, explore our gallery, and discover the fascinating history of Long Point Lighthouse and its important place in Twillingate’s story.

Here’s to **150 years of light, history, and heritage!** ❤️

A truly magnificent testament to the Endurance of our provinces lighthouses and their keepers!

Barry Porter - Author recently spoke with CBC's Cameron Kilfoy about his recent adventure hosting Australian filmmaker Mikaela Zuiderduyn, as part of the competition Race Around the World. Barry showed Mikaela around the area where he spent many years manning lighthouses for the Canadian Coast Guard. Mikaela created a fantastic short featuring Barry reading a poem, set to a visual motif of the landscape.

🌊 That’s a wrap on our Mini Long Point Lighthouse Workshop! 🌊

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make our workshop such a fun part of celebrating the **150th anniversary** of Twillingate’s historic Long Point Lighthouse! 💙

We still have 5 previously registered kits ready for pickup and 5 additional kits available for purchase if anyone missed out and would still like to build their very own little piece of Long Point!

All we ask is that you share your lovely creation with us on your socials — we’d love to see all those little lighthouses come to life! 🎨✨

This September, get ready to experience Long Point Lighthouse like never before.

As part of our 150th Anniversary Celebrations, we're opening the doors after dark for "Long Point After Dark: Tales from the Tower" on September 26th.

Join us for an evening of stories, history, legends, and mysteries as we explore Long Point under the cover of darkness. Hear tales of the lighthouse and the people who lived and worked here, and discover a different side of this historic beacon after the sun goes down. 🌙🔦

We felt we haven’t given everyone enough time to take part, so there’s still plenty of time to complete the hunt and enter for your chance to win an awesome prize! 🎁

Looking for a fun way to celebrate 150 years of Long Point Lighthouse? Come get creative with us!

Join the Long Point Lighthouse Heritage Museum on August 26th for a hands-on afternoon where you’ll build your very own mini Long Point Lighthouse!

Each participant will receive a pre-selected kit containing pieces gathered from the beaches of Twillingate. Put the pieces together, get creative, and take home your own little piece of Long Point! ❤
