Amir Safari’s Masking the Pulse opens tomorrow!

“In environments governed by rigid authority and systemic pressure, the individual is frequently forced to perform a scripted existence. Conformity becomes a quiet survival strategy, where stepping outside the prescribed boundaries invites judgment, censorship, and erasure. This weight leaves deep psychological scars, alters futures and demands endurance in silence.”

Opening this Friday, and not to be missed is Amir Safari’s Masking the Pulse!

Amir Safari is an Iranian-born pluralistic visual artist and
designer, now based in Toronto. Working primarily at the
intersection of narrative surrealism and oil painting, his practice
investigates the profound tensions between systemic machinery
and the vulnerability of the human body. Drawing from his
experiences navigating rigid socio-political landscapes and

personal reclamation, Safari’s work serves as a powerful psychological canvas capturing silent
battles, structural constraints, and the resilience of the human spirit. His exhibition history
includes international and local presentations in Toronto, Tehran, Athens, and Istanbul.

Join us next week for the opening reception of Amir Safari’s first solo exhibition!

This body of work, Masking the Pulse, translates the friction of living under constant surveillance and mechanical control into stark visual tension. Through contrasting temperatures, dramatic illumination, and intrusive industrial structures merging with the human form, these paintings capture the heavy cost of wearing a mask. They explore the fragile space between internal vulnerability and the overwhelming forces that seek to contain it, offering a space to reflect on the silent resilience of the spirit.

Soudabeh Hejazi’s Red Sisters series explodes with passion and pain. With colors inspired by her surroundings in Puerto Vallarta, and her energy affected by the news coming out of Iran, she has created canvases that capture grief and hope at the same time!

Summer sun, fall leaves, angst and joy, yellow can embody an abundance of emotions, and Soudabeh Hejazi has found a way to tame this color.✨

Soudabeh Hejazi is a painter and visual artist born in Iran. She trained in Persian miniature painting and watercolor under renowned artist Aydin Aghdashloo before continuing her studies with Nami Petgar, focusing on oil painting, figure drawing, and color theory. Her early work was exhibited at Golestan Gallery and Seyhoun Gallery in Tehran.
Following the Iranian Revolution, Soudabeh immigrated to Canada, where she was admitted to OCAD University and completed her degree while also teaching with the Board of Education. In 1993, she received First Prize in Miniature Painting at the Del Bello Gallery in Toronto as part of an international exhibition featuring artists from 56 countries. Her work has since been exhibited at OCAD Gallery, Arta Gallery, and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Today, Hejazi continues to create expressive works that reflect her lifelong dedication to painting.
