Come meet current Board members and learn more about what it’s like to serve on the Blue Mountains Public Library Board. We’ll talk about what the Board does, what the commitment looks like, and how to apply, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and hear firsthand about the Board experience.

Key Dates:
October 28 — Applications open
November 18 — Application deadline
November 19 — Applications provided to the Selection Committee
November 23–26 — Selection Committee review and interviews, if required
November 30 — Special Council meeting to consider recommendations and provide direction; selected applicants then proceed to reference checks
December 14 — Council appointment of selected applicants, pending satisfactory reference checks

It is apple season once again! In September, museum staff explored the history of ownership and operation of the fruit house formerly located on Bruce Street North. Its original owner, Matthias Snetsinger, was deeply involved in the apple industry and local government. The building itself stood as a Thornbury landmark for decades, until its unfortunate destruction by fire in 1978.

Admission: Entry is by donation. All proceeds from the evening will directly support the Museum’s Reconciliation Garden project, being developed in collaboration with the Wendat / Wyandot / Wendake Nations.

, 115 year ago on September 21st, 1911, the Canadian Federal Election was held to determine members of the 12th Parliament of Canada. Clarksburg’s own, Clayton Webb Hartman, an influential resident and businessman, ran as the Liberal Candidate for the now defunct East Grey Electoral District. Hartman lost the election to the long-established Conservative, Thomas S. Sproule of Markdale who had been the MP of Grey East since 1878.
