📣 Submit your work for our upcoming Wool Fibre Exhibition 🐑

We're seeking submissions from Cape Breton artists for Enrooted: Wool & the Land That Grows It, an exhibition celebrating wool, craft, and local making.

We're looking for work that speaks to craft, land, and lineage, sweaters, garments, textiles, furniture, or mixed-media pieces exploring technique, material, or story connected to wool and local making. Work in progress or process-based pieces are welcome alongside finished objects. Collaborations are invited as well.

📅 Deadline: November 1, 2026
📍 Exhibition runs late January–mid-March 2027
💰 CARFAC fees paid to participating artists

Calling Indigenous Artists in Unama’ki 📣 Ready to turn your craft into a thriving business?

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design, in partnership with Mawi'Art and Craft Alliance Atlantic, is launching a new Mi’kmaq business skills development program designed for Indigenous craft artists.

Five participants will be selected for a six-session cohort focused on:
✨ Introductory to wholesaling
✨ Pricing your work
✨ Branding & social media marketing
✨ Product photography
✨ Intellectual property & copyright
✨ Market opportunities & export

Participants will also receive paid participation, business registration support, mentorship from a Mi’kmaq artist, opportunity to attend Craft East Wholesale Show in Halifax (March 2027), and an opportunity for professional brand design.

We're looking for Indigenous craft artists from Unama’ki’s five First Nations communities who are ready to grow their business, expand their markets, and build a sustainable future through craft.

Join us on Tuesday, November 3rd at Colaisde na Gàidhlig / The Gaelic College, St. Ann's Campus from 10AM-3PM for a full (free) day dedicated to Unama'ki Cape Breton's craft community. 🫶

Topics being discussed will include trends and opportunities in the craft sector, pricing and wholesale, sustaining creativity, being retail ready, photography and marketing your work online, collaborative sourcing, critiquing your work and more.

Whether you're an emerging maker, established artisan, passionate supporter of craft, or simply just interested in craft, this gathering will be an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and build community.
