We have one final Artefact Chats: Staff Favourites for this summer!

James', our summer Museum Interpreter, favourite artefact is the Alexander Anderson Copper Boiler.

This artefact is a huge, 115 lbs, 240+ year old boiler initially used for making potash, followed by maple syrup, and more recently, mixing pig mash!

We have decided to extend our season past labour day! We will now be open to the public for the month of September from Tuesday-Saturday, 10-5.

If you didn't get a chance to visit the museum yet this summer, you now have more time to make it out 🙂

There's just two Holman Island tour dates left this summer, today and tomorrow. There's still spots left to attend, so contact the museum to book your spot!

Today's tour departs the museum at 3:30PM and tomorrow's tour at 4:00pm.

Note: the tour involves walking through shallow water, so waterproof or old shoes are recommended. As there are rocks and shells, it is not recommended to be barefoot.

August 19 was declared World Photography Day, as it was the day in 1839 that the details of the daguerrotype process were announced publicly. Photography has certainly come a long way, and become much more accessible, since then.

We are collecting recipes, and stories related to these recipes, for a new fundraising cookbook initiative. Current and former residents of Bedeque and area are invited to share, help preserve, and celebrate local food traditions by submitting a recipe.
