Online Art Writing Workshop with Tanea Hynes
Riddle Fence presents the third in our new season of online workshops! Join from wherever you call home, and learn from some of the very best writers in Newfoundland and Labrador (and beyond!)
This workshop has been generously supported by CEDP funding from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and is offered at a pay-what-you-can rate. Workshops run between 2-3 hours.

Writing About Your Work for Practicing Artists
Description: This two-hour workshop helps practicing artists in any discipline find plain, specific language for what they do, how they do it and why it matters to them. Through short writing exercises, peer feedback and a look at what Canadian arts councils, artist-run centres and galleries look for, participants will leave with a revised artist statement, a 50-word short version and a one-sentence description they can say with confidence.
Bring an existing statement, however rough (if you don't have one, that's ok!), and images of one to three recent works for your own reference.
-----------------------------------
Accessibility: The workshop will be held on Zoom, with a short break mid-way through. While participants are encouraged to turn on their cameras, it is not mandatory. Auto-captioning will be enabled, and participants will be muted except when speaking. Instructions for writing exercises will be spoken, and also provided in writing on the screen or in the chat.
