This fascinating photo, was taken by John Freyseng in North Vancouver, BC, in May 1967, and shows MLW S-13 Pacific Great Eastern 1002 in its early working life.
Built by Montreal Locomotive Works in January 1959, No. 1002 was delivered to Pacific Great Eastern before continuing into the BC Rail era. It was renumbered 502 in 1987 and later went on to serve with Vancouver Wharves and Ontario Southland Railway.
In 2018, the locomotive made its way to WCR. Two years later, it was repainted in WCRโs CP-inspired Tuscan and grey and returned to its original 1002 road number.
Today, you know it as WCRX 1002.
We'd love to see any more photos that might be out there of WCRX 1002 in the comments!๐
