The PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives, located next to City Hall in downtown Port Coquitlam, is operated by The Port Coquitlam Heritage and Cultural Society (founded in 1988). The museum opened in 2013 during the City of Port Coquitlam's centennial anniversary in the city's old post office building, now called The Outlet in Leigh Square.

While we’re on the subject of transportation, here’s a photo of some early PoCo residents on a parade float with a replica train. This parade was held in 1927, on BC’s 60th Anniversary of Confederation.

Check out this dramatic picture of a log jam, as seen from the Red Bridge on Pitt River Road during the 1961 flood. Just six years earlier, a similar flood, and all the debris it brought with it, actually changed the course of the river for a while, for nearly a kilometer above the bridge.

Happy everyone! Did you know that the area where Lions Park is today used to be used for logging, before it was turned into a park in the 1950s with the support of the PoCo Lions Club? This mural was painted to commemorate those Lions members, and unveiled in August of 1998.

Check this out! In just a couple of weeks Poco Arts Council with City of Port Coquitlam will be having our FIRST ART FESTIVAL!!!

Sunday - Aug 23rd meet us at 1:45 to Party in the Square! There will be music, interactive art, an arts market and a poetry/painting battle.

Monday Aug 24th - An evening with author Iona Wishaw 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday August 25th - Dance showcase featuring Sarah Kennedy 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Imagine the warmth of a kitchen, filled with the comforting smells of a cherished family recipe—one passed down through generations. When The Make A Fuss Movement (by TSACS) launched The Memory Rasa Project as a coffee table booklet early this year, seniors were immensely excited at the opportunity to share not only the secrets of their favourite dishes but also the treasured memories tied to them. Each recipe held a story: a moment in time when the kitchen was alive with laughter, love and the sharing of a meal.

And now we are beyond thrilled to take it to the next level - a beautifully captured Video Diary for the community to experience and revisit as a knowledge-keeping initiative.

On a pre-decided shoot day - seniors who have registered through this form will be given the opportunity to participate in a special interview highlighting the power of food through memory and recipes that hold a special place in their hearts. There is no cost to participate - this initiative is funded by the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation's Community Grant. Seniors will be given honoraria to participate.

For seniors, the meals they've prepared, shared, and enjoyed hold the essence of their journey - each bite carrying memories that deserve to be cherished and remembered. As time passes, these tastes and traditions can fade, but by honouring them, we not only celebrate their lives but also the richness of their experiences.

We'd love for you to come be a part of the second edition of The Memory Rasa Project - this includes submitting the name of a food dish and its short description and then committing to showing up on shoot day to be interviewed and recorded. The nature of the shoot is informal, conversational and very light in mood and tone.
