Julien is the lucky winner of our raffle for a one-night stay in the WALLIS Suite at Jackson Falls Country Inn! The raffle was held in celebration of Susan Wallis’ solo exhibition, Night Moves, which ran throughout September at Melt Gallery. Julien was absolutely thrilled to learn of his win!

A big thank-you to Jackson Falls Country Inn for generously donating such a sweet prize and helping us celebrate Susan’s exhibition. Your support is truly appreciated!

Nice to be highlighted in today’s Globe and Mail!

Melt Studio & Gallery is now in its sixth season, but what you might not know is that we actually opened our doors in June 2021, before the new owners took over the space in January 2022.

As most artists know, following where the artists go is often a good indication of a place with potential and one worth investing in and developing. Artists have a way of recognizing spaces with character, opportunity and creative energy.

Melt has certainly grown and evolved over the years, and we’re proud to continue building a place where Canadian artists can share their work, connect with visitors and contribute to the creative community here in Prince Edward County.

And if you’re in the County this weekend, drop by Melt for the opening reception of Dianne Twombly’s solo exhibition, Echoes of a Quiet Landscape.

On this special day of Truth and Reconciliation, we at Melt Gallery are especially proud to celebrate Mohawk artist Janice “Kahehtóktha” Brant, recipient of the Quinte Arts Council Recognition Award. 🧡

Janice is a deeply respected leader in our community — an educator, multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, gardener, and seed keeper.

Kahehtóktha is a true champion of the arts, whose connection to place, people, culture, and the natural world is inseparable from her artistic practice. Through her work, teaching, storytelling, and stewardship, she helps keep knowledge, traditions, and connections to the land alive and shared with future generations.

On a day dedicated to listening, learning, remembering, and building a path toward reconciliation, it is particularly meaningful to recognize an Indigenous artist and community leader whose work contributes so much to our understanding of place, culture, and community.

Congratulations, Janice, on this well-deserved recognition. Your voice, your knowledge, your art, and your leadership are an important part of our community. Thank you my friend for inviting me to attend and share in the celebration of this wonderful accomplishment. I was truly privileged and honoured.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, September 30, we pause to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, their families, and the generations whose lives continue to be affected by this history.

Truth and reconciliation ask us to listen, to learn, and to acknowledge the painful truths of Canada’s past and their continuing impact on Indigenous communities.
As an arts community, we have a responsibility to create space for Indigenous voices, artists, storytellers, knowledge keepers, and cultural traditions — and to recognize the important role art plays in preserving stories, sharing knowledge, and building understanding.

Today is a day for reflection, but reconciliation is not limited to one day. It is an ongoing commitment to learning, listening, respect, and meaningful action.
At Melt Studio & Gallery, we are grateful for the Indigenous artists, educators, storytellers, and community members who contribute to the cultural fabric of Prince Edward County and beyond.

We listen. We learn. We reflect, We remember. 🧡

Don’t worry — just for the weekend!
Melt Studio & Gallery is part of the Prince Edward County Studio Tour this weekend, and the gallery space has been taken over by artists Susan Wallis, Glen Wallis and Jan Mills for the tour.

So, we moved everyone else next door! 🎨
More than 20 artists have taken over the Artist Collective, bringing along some new work, some familiar favourites, and a few surprise additions you won’t want to miss.
Come check us out, wander through the Artist Collective, and see what’s new!
