The Algoma Sault arrived last night and is now at the grain elevator.

The Algoma Sault is a 740 foot Equinox Class freighter owned and operated by the Algoma Central Corporation.

This year has seen a few shifts in our waterfront deliveries, and this one continues that trend. Some trackers said it was coming from Goderich while others said it came from Toledo. Either is unusual for Owen Sound grain shipments which typically come in from Thunder Bay.

In any case, it’s certainly interesting to see a Seawaymax ship unloading in Owen Sound. The ship is 60 feet longer than the Ontario Venture, which delivered grain earlier this year, and 10 feet longer than the Oakglen which laid up here last year.

Another visitor is on its way to Owen Sound. The Prentiss Brown is coming in from Charlevoix, MI. The Prentiss Brown is typically paired with the barge St. Marys Challenger to deliver to the cement silos.

The position in this image is from several hours ago, and it appears that as of 8:00am today they are nearing Cape Croker.
