⚠️ NOTICE: Guided Walks Cancelled for the Remainder of the Season

Due to continued poor air quality and ongoing wildfire activity in the region, NK Mip Desert Cultural Centre has made the decision to cancel all guided walks for the remainder of the 2026 season.

This decision was not made lightly, but the health and safety of our visitors and staff must come first.

Our trail remains open for self-guided visits, conditions permitting. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these challenging conditions.

Witness the beauty of the numerous metal sculptures here at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre. Each sharing their own story, a moment frozen in time here on the land, showing the relationships between the people, the plants and animals in Nk’Mip. Come walk our trail to see this one up close, and discover more along the way. This sculpture was created by the late Virgil ‘Smoker’ Marchand.

☀️ Daily summer programming begins July 1st! ☀️

Start your visit with our Guided Walk at 9:30 AM, where one of our knowledgeable interpreters will share the rich history, culture, and unique desert ecosystem of the South Okanagan.

Then join us at 11:00 AM in our main theatre for Snakes Alive! 🐍 Learn about the incredible snake species that call this region home, discover how to be snake smart and safe, and enjoy the rare opportunity to meet a few of our resident snakes up close.

Outside of these scheduled programs, the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre is self-guided, allowing you to explore our exhibits, immersive theatre, and desert trails at your own pace.

With the summer heat arriving, don’t forget to bring a water bottle, wear a hat, and stay hydrated while exploring the desert. We can’t wait to welcome you! 🌵💛
