Sew & Tell is a drop in handicraft afternoon, bring your own project to work on or learn to crochet and make a poppy for the Poppy Project banners that are displayed at Sonora Centre for the Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11.

This week at the Museum...

Coffee with the Candidates - Oct. 3 & 4, 1-4pm. Open house event, stop by to meet and chat with candidates running for Osoyoos Town Council. Candidates for Councillor on Saturday, and candidates for Mayor and Water Councillor on Sunday.

First Friday Art Walk - Oct. 2. Visit all the downtown locations to view great local art & culture. This month at the museum we will be featuring w**e from Domaine Artema.

Busy week coming up at the Museum!

Meat Draw at Backroads Brewery. Sunday, September 27, 4:30-6:30pm. Come for a visit, a b**r, and support the Museum at the same time!

Memories Matter. Monday, September 28, 1-3pm. Free activities, resources and support for people living with dementia and their loved ones. Funding provided by Cascadia Credit Union, Community Impact Grant.

Board Game Night. Wednesday, September 30, 6pm. Join the Oliver Osoyoos Board Game Group for a fun evening of board games.

First Friday Art Walk. Friday, October 2, 4-7pm. Stop by the Museum on your Art Walk, Domaine Artema will be here pouring samples of their w**e.

Coffee with the Candidates. Saturday, October 3 & Sunday October 4, 1-3pm. This is an open house event for you to meet and chat with the Candidates for Town Council. Saturday will be candidates running for Councillor and Sunday will be candidates running for Mayor and Water Councillor.

All of these events are free of charge, stop by at any or all!

More donations!

Usually, when we talk 'item donations' it is an interesting artifact. This week, while we had a number of interesting, we also received a box of teacups. Beautiful, vintage teacups.

The museum rents space for private meetings and events, and one booking for this winter plans to host a tea party. However, the museum did not have enough teacups - (w**e glasses, no problem!). The organizers asked around and have donated over 30 teacups to the museum. This is an excellent donation as we will be able to use these teacups for future events.

Close to half of the museum's annual operating budget comes from financial donations and fundraising. By donating items that can be used for fundraising and events your donation is potentially turned into a larger amount. In the past supporters have donated cases of w**e, original artwork, and bins of fabric. We then use those items for fundraising through raffles, auctions, or creating items to sell in our giftshop.

What we do...

Today it is a lot of paperwork! Yesterday we had multiple artifact donations, which means today I'm completing the initial paperwork to go along with each item.

Here's a glimpse of our new treasures....
Items from the Stevens family including photos and books.
Items form the Mahovlic family including a Don Carlos collector spoon, a Town of Osoyoos coat of arms glass, pins, badges, and some local cookbooks.
Items from some past members of the Osoyoos Gyro Club - the clubs installation pamphlet (from 1945!), constitution, new member info, vests and pins.

Next step, will be cleaning/care, recording, photographing and entering into the database.
