This MHS team won the 1936 High School Juniors championship in a 14-1 final, played in Orillia against the Barrie Collegiate Juniors. Coach Graham Dey gained some advantage for his team by equipping them with sneakers rather than spikes. Both teams complained of poor officiating, as fans crowded the sidelines and crossed the playing field. Rough play and too many men on the field were other issues.

May 1966 Photo #2006-0090-2480 Bands from Midland's two separate elementary schools and separate high school are often in demand for parades at various functions within the town and in neighbouring communities. The Sacred Heart Public School Band (above) will be performing on King Street May 21. which has been set aside as tag day to raise funds for this and the St. Mary's and St. Theresa's bands. Objective is to raise enough money to purchase 40 new instruments. May 18, 1966

Members of the Midland Professional Firefighters Assn received their charter recently as Local 1581 of the International Association of Firefighters. Bernard Bonser, Scarborough, vice-president 13th District IAF is seen presenting charter to Peter Staruck, president of the Midland group. Others present included veteran firemen W. E. Item #2006-0090-2191, Hundreds of lads like these will be invading Midland and Penetanguishene, starting next week, as the provincial Little NHL tournament gets under way. Past-president of the Ontario Little NHL, Rev. J. L. Self of Midland is seen with a sampling of the boys who will be taking part. All from Midland, the lads are: Billy Hook, Jim Stelter, Brian Storey, Tim Merkley and Jerry Lalonde. April 6, 1966

In front row are Anne Delaney, Ilona Strasser and Linda Lockhart. Standing are Sheila Elliott and Lola Sharon Russell. One of them will be chosen Queen at the Odeon Theatre, Midland, this Friday. February 16, 1966 (Lola Sharon Russell from Port Severn was the winner.)
