We have an exciting announcement from Japanese Canadian Legacies about Mayne Island's new Heritage Walk:
The proposed work at the Museum site is to create an outdoor exhibit that honours and tells the story of the interned Japanese Canadians from Mayne Island and the broader narrative about internment within British Columbia and Canada.
The proposed exhibit will be constructed on the east side of the existing museum building with ramps and decks that will connect into the museum. A large deck in front of the museum can be used for temporary outdoor exhibits as well as functions. The exhibit area and museum will now be made fully accessible. A seating area will be created in the courtyard space.
This new exhibit will be one part of the new "Heritage Walk" being championed by the Agricultural Society.
