Lake Country Museum & Archives

Lake Country Museum & Archives Presenting our Past. Illuminating our Future. The Lake Country Museum was established in 1985 and is located in the former Okanagan Centre School.

Step back in time at the historic Lake Country Museum where you can learn about our history, understand our past and be enlightened for the future. While visiting take a break at the OK Patio Café, explore the park, playground, nearby beaches, and learn about our community. Through its exhibits and archives, the museum tells the story of the District of Lake Country and its four wards: Winfield, O

yama, Carr’s Landing, and Okanagan Centre. The museum’s artifacts include the histories of the orchards, wines, and ranching industries, turn of the century living, and
collections from the early Japanese community. For more information about the museum and archives, visit our website at www.lakecountrymuseum.com.

We’re pleased to share an upcoming community event hosted by OCCA in celebration of Asian Heritage Month 2026.

Their Opening Forum is an in-person gathering that honors the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Asian communities. This year’s theme, “Heritage as Social Capital,” explores how ancestral knowledge and lived experience shape our collective future in the Okanagan.

Attendees can also experience cultural performances featuring music, dance, and artistic traditions from across Asia, along with opportunities to connect with community leaders and fellow participants. Complimentary refreshments will be provided, and all Eventbrite registrants will be entered into a prize draw.
