Homer Watson House & Gallery (HWHG) is a National Historic Site and former home and art studio of Canadian artist Homer Watson.

HWHG preserves and celebrates the legacy of Homer Watson through the appreciation, enjoyment and practice of the visual arts. Homer Watson House & Gallery is the homestead of Homer Ransford Watson, Canada's first noted landscape artist (1855-1936). In 1980, his house and surrounding 3 acre property were designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as being of architectural and historic significance. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Homer Watson's creative spirit by stimulating the appreciation, enjoyment and practice of the visual arts. We engage the community through curriculum-based visual arts programs, exhibitions, maintaining and displaying Watson's permanent collection, special events, and other endeavours. Hoping to get into printmaking, but don't know where to start? Look no further!

In this Printmaking Sampler course participants will learn 3 printmaking techniques including Lino Block, Multi-layer Lino Block & Gelli Plate printing. Participants can expect to become familiar with standard printmaking tools & techniques such as carving blocks, using inks, and creating registration sheets for consistent prints. All skill levels welcome!

🔮🍂 Spirit Market is tomorrow! Paired with our Books & Blankets event, this is sure to be a great day! We have Ella Ruth coming out between 2:30-3:30 and Shantell Powell will be on site to do a reading from one of her books at 1:45.

Shantell Powell is a swamp hag/elder goth who grew up on the land and off the grid all over Canada. Her writing appears in Augur, Nightmare Magazine, The Deadlands, and more. When she’s not writing, she wrangles chinchillas or gets filthy in the woods.

Wanting to try out lino block printing but not sure where to start? This workshop is a perfect introduction to lino block printmaking techniques! 💜

Participants will learn to us lino block printing tools to create a stamp of their own design. This stamp will then be used to create an iron on patch or small fabric artwork.
