Brian Markham-Limberlost Woodturning I create hand-crafted burl bowls, platters & live-edge furniture. Brian Markham is a woodturner inspired by the rugged forests of Muskoka.

Bark-covered burls and slabs of wood are turned on the lathe into handcrafted bowls and platters. Displaying a bowl or platter in your home reveals the warmth of wood and a connection to natural art. Brian has perfected a food-safe oil finish that enhances and protects each piece so they grace your table and display your food to perfection. I made this Dragonfly Bowl for my wife for her birthday. Dragonflies are meaningful to her. It is the centrepiece of this bowl, surrounded by cedar and paua shell, and I think it turned out well.

We went into Algonquin Park to hike and visit the Algonquin Art Centre. I was pleased to see a red dot for “Sold” on my Black Walnut Burl Table and to hear that the new owner is excited to have it delivered to his home.

The Algonquin Art Centre has a wonderful display that features the talents of renowned artists and the art of the land. You can visit the exhibit until October 18.

We had some sales at the Algonquin Art Centre so we took some new work to the gallery. I delivered two beautiful Eucalyptus Burl Bowls and a Maple Platter with a pottery centre. It is a scenic drive and we also hiked in the park with friends.

The exhibition “Shaped By The Land” explores how Algonquin Park, through time, has been shaped by water, ice, fire, and natural processes. It is a fantastic gallery and I hope you have an opportunity to visit. Algonquin Art Centre
