What an honour to receive the Gimli Chamber’s Award for Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion!

My little enterprise has always been about empowering people no matter who they are - to learn skills, be confident, and have fun.

This year the little shack saw dozens of women come out on the ice, we held the first Qu**rs & Beers event with great success, we had new Canadians step out on a frozen lake for the first time ever, mom’s taking their kids out to learn together, people going through treatment, and several seniors who could safely drive up and fish - amongst other participants. Making ice fishing accessible is a core belief and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished. None of it would be possible without the support of my wife, my helpers, and the partnerships I’ve built in this amazing town. THANK YOU ☺️

It was the last ice fishing excursion with my buddy “Hey Jocelyne” aka for this ice season.

There were no fish but it was a great last excursion and a bit of an adventure. As always, there was lots of laughs and shenanigans to be had.

It will be fun, they said.

I promise you, the end of the season was far from “fun”.

There were many highlights this winter - but a very late start, flooding, perpetual cold, windstorms, cost increases, and other mishaps have made it a tough one for sure. Fingers crossed for a great summer and an easy-peezy season in 2027.

There were a lot of highlights this short season. Taking my nephews out for their first ice fishing experience, having students choose to come to the shack and walking on ice for their first time, seeing a kid (or adult) catch a first fish, and seeing a whole lotta ladies get out on the lake.

Fishing had little to do with catching fish… I’ve always said that catching is a bonus, and what a bonus when it’s a Master Angler!

My business thrives on diversity, and I'm thrilled to welcome people from all walks of life participate.

I've been warmly welcomed in Gimli, and I'm proud of the relationships I've built. I'm happy to play a role in boosting the tourism and local economy during the off-season.

It has been a short but good season. Although we have plenty of ice in the Gimli fishing village, flooding continues to be an issue around the shack. It’s time to call it.

Thank you to everyone who booked the shack, took a lesson, or participated in one of this year’s events. It has been a busy couple of months! 🎣 🕳️

This Sunday is International Women’s Day and the timing couldn’t be better!

Check it out! 👀 This weekend large groups of female anglers are hitting the ice all over the prairies! Go get ‘em gals! 💪

On Lake Winnipeg this weekend - PrairieGal is partnering with , are partnering with , roper.outdoors is hitting the ice with gals in Alberta, and
are heading up near the Canadian border with a huge group!

Ice fishing has never been more accessible thanks to changes in equipment and most importantly in perception. Did you know… it is estimated that by 2030 50% of license holders will be women! I’m so happy to be part of this community of anglers at this time!
