“When I’m looking at birds on the beach, photos that my friends have taken of animals, or even my dogs, they seem to exhibit parallel behaviours and the same societal structures as humans. Geese live in the field behind us, married couples sqawking at each other. The gulls screech when someone’s not sharing just like kids would. Everyone looks after the babies, family structure is always present. I feel this kinship with them, as though I’m part of their secret society and a lot of it is because I live in this close-to-nature lake community. I get to be The Observer.”

“ A Wild Country of Secrets” 🫎 The Artwork of Sharon Cory continues in the gallery this weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Be sure to stop by and see the works soon. Many have found new homes already but still some beauty’s available.

🎨 Feeding frenzy at the locks! Check out this incredible, textured canvas by Manitoba artist Sharon Cory, titled "Lockport Luncheon". Cory’s work shown here beautifully captures a massive squadron of white pelicans gathering below the rushing waters at the Lockport Manitoba Dam.

Leo Mol (1915–2009) was also a profoundly talented painter. His deep connection to the rugged spirit of the Canadian wilderness shines brightly in this beautiful 12x16" oil on board landscape. Mol held the Group of Seven in incredibly high regard, even personally modeling portrait busts for members like A.Y. Jackson, Frederick Varley, and A.J. Casson. Spending hours studying Casson’s structure and form deeply transformed Mol's own brushwork.
