Sparwood Museum The Sparwood Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the histories of Sparwood, Corbin, Michel, Natal, and Middletown.

10-2PM Saturday - Sunday The Michel-Natal/Sparwood Heritage Society was established in 1985 to preserve and provide information on the history of the Elk Valley. Coal was discovered in the Elk Valley in the late 1800's and has been the main stay of the economy ever since. Underground coal mining ceased in 1986 and continues now with open pit operat

ions. In 1967 the federal and provincial governments of the day made a decision to close the towns of Michel and Natal. This museum tells the story of Michel and Natal, Sparwood and our deep roots in coal mining.
