Happy Sunday from the Fernie Arts Station!
We are back to our regular hours tomorrow, August 31!

We can’t wait to welcome our community back into the building to create, connect, explore our studios, and dive into an exciting season of fall programming. 🍂🎨

Did you know? The building we call home was built in 1909 as a CPR railway station. It served as a railway station until 1979, after which it fell into disrepair. In 1986, the building was leased to the Fernie & District Arts Council, and after extensive restoration, the Arts Station officially opened its doors in 1990.

Since then we have been writing our own story of creativity and culture in Fernie!

HUGE thanks to for proudly displaying the Murals created for OUT OF THE BOX: a Public Art Project 🌈 🌈 🌈

Out of the Box is a public art project that transforms 8 ft x 4 ft plywood boards into vibrant murals created by regional artists! Artists submitted proposals to a panel of adjudicators, who selected the successful applicants and gave them the opportunity to bring their creative visions to life. The result is a dynamic collection of large-scale artworks that celebrate creativity, community, and the talent of artists in our region.

The Out of the Box project also featured community workshops for artists and art lovers of all ages, led by experienced public art instructors. These workshops gave participants the opportunity to get creative, experiment with new techniques, and contribute their own ideas to the project. We’re so excited to display the colourful results alongside the juried artist murals!

The Arts Station is closing for a little reset as we prepare the building for an exciting season of autumn programming!

We are CLOSED: August 22nd - 30th

Before we head into the next season, we want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Fernie community for making summer 2026 so special. From workshops and exhibitions to live music, public art, and all the little moments in between, it has been an incredible summer filled with creativity, connection, and community.

Thank you for showing up, supporting local artists, trying something new, and helping make The Arts Station such a vibrant place to be.

Opening Reception September 3rd at 7:00pm

Join us for a special exhibition celebrating Métis and First Nations beadwork, culture, and connection to the natural world. Featuring beautiful handmade moccasins, mitts, bags, and more, this collection showcases traditional floral motifs and the cultural knowledge woven into every bead.

Come celebrate the artistry, stories, and traditions being carried forward by the Flower Beadwork Collective. 🏔️ 🌲
