Dear Pottery Enthusiasts and those looking to explore clay and it's properties (for FREE)

I am pleased to share that I have located my original Campfire Pottery article. I penned it following my participation in a 1992 Scouting camping event in the Okanagan. Later I revised it for clarity and conciseness for the web but the original version has more practical tips and advice.

Read the article about how to prepare clay, make pots and fire them in a woodstove or campfire.

Then experience the magic of creation and the transformation of clay back into rock. Children know what to do, they just need the opportunity and some help.

Season's greetings to pottery enthusiasts, valued customers, and friends everywhere. As a follow-up to my 'Name that Glaze' contest (see previous post) and encouragemen for you to keep these ideas flowing. I am happy to include additional images of the enigmatic blue-green glaze, as well as some exceptional gift ideas in both popular glazes. The photographs were taken in natural and artificial light; however, please note that the camera's representation may not fully capture the true essence of the glaze. The best way to experience the beauty and unique characteristics of my pottery is to acquire a piece and contemplate its colors and life while enjoying its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Pottery is a unique gift that endures. Do not miss out on my limited-time offer of 20% off until Christmas. For more information and images, please visit the 'About Us' section on my website. Please note that the 'Contact Us' email is currently unavailable. The gallery and studio are located at 664 Gardom Lake Road, accessible via signs off Hwy 97B.

I am pleased to announce the return of the "Name that Glaze Contest", inviting all pottery connoisseurs and enthusiasts everywhere to participate. You may have noticed that the "Verdi" glaze has undergone a transformation since its initial naming in the previous Contest (years ago). Although my favourite opera composer remains unchanged, the colour "green" is no longer an apt description. Moreover, I have recently discovered that I possess partial colour blindness. As a result, I'm relaunching the Contest, offering a $100 gift certificate as the grand prize and $50 for the runners-up. To enter, please submit your suggestions to [email protected], including "Name that Glaze" in the subject line. The Contest will conclude on January 1st, 2026. I appreciate your creative entries in advance. I've added some new pictures of the glaze in different angles and lighting but you can use previous pictures to provide inspiration or better still one of your own samples of this mysterious blue/green glaze.

Happy Thanksgiving pottery fans and friends everywhere. I am thankful for so much including the latest offerings of the kiln Gods. Every firing and load is unique and potentially a disaster so I celebrate when the stars align because I have made the appropriate sacrifices of time and attention and a kiln load arrives mostly intact. The newest pots include slightly deeper bowls with rims that have been "rolled " to fatten the functional top edge. See pictures. A few new mug shots and pictures of today's mug wall. I also have gravy boats on special 30% off!
Perhaps you are thinking of a special gift and compliment to your Thanksgiving and future meals? The gallery is very well stocked. Come by appointment or chance. 250 838 6800

Dear pottery enthusiasts and friends everywhere,

Here are pictures of the first kiln offerings after taking the summer off. I started back by making nesting Innies at there request of a friend. I made extras. The shape is useful for liquid as well as solid foods and isn't easy to mass produce so it's not a shape you find in most cupboards despite their unique functionality. For example grabbing nuts out of a bowl. The "perfect one" bowls may be destined to be latte cups. I remind my customers that my pottery can be used safely with acidic foods and in the oven, microwave and dishwasher. By appointment or chance 250 838 6800.
