Salmon Arm Arts Centre Art Gallery and Arts Centre in downtown Salmon Arm, operated by Shuswap District Arts Council. The beautiful gallery is known throughout Western Canada.

Salmon Arm Arts Centre is a heritage brick building in downtown Salmon Arm. Built in 1937 as Salmon Arm's first post office, it has been a public library, and since 1994, the Arts Centre. With its Palladian windows and original maple hardwood floors, we enjoy a stunning atmosphere with which to hold exhibitions and community events.

There’s a lot of story and collaboration behind this piece✨

This map came together through an artist’s creative process, shaped by conversations and contributions from community members who shared their knowledge, connections, and experiences of these places.

It’s a closer look at the process behind one of the pieces in Where in the World Are We? and a reminder of how much can come from creating together.

What can a cooking tool tell us about where we come from?

Join us for an evening of stories, drawing, and sharing as part of Where in the World Are We? Bring a cooking tool from your family or place of origin and share the story behind it. We’ll also spend some time drawing these meaningful objects together.

Then, on Saturday, come back to explore a mini-exhibit of kitchen implements from different places, with community members sharing how they’re used and the stories behind them.

Admission: Free and open to everyone

Come share a story, learn something new, and see how everyday objects can connect us to place, family, and memory.

Where in the World Are We? has been a true community effort.

From the workshops and conversations to the map making and artwork, so many people have contributed their time, creativity, and stories to bringing this exhibition together.

It’s been wonderful to see what can happen when the Salmon Arm Arts Centre, Shuswap Immigrant Services Society, Runaway Moon Theatre, artists, and community members come together to create something shared.

And this is only the beginning.

The project will continue into 2027 with a community play, bringing people together in a new way to share stories, create, and take part.

There will be lots of ways to get involved, so keep an eye out for more details! 🎭

What happens when you connect a world map to the creativity of an entire guild?

Created by members of the Shuswap Spinners and Weavers Guild, this unique map brings together the people, places, and handmade work that make up their creative community. Each spot on the globe marks the home of a Guild member, with a string connecting it to something they’ve created.

The result is a beautiful visual web of creativity and connection, showing how many different places and stories can come together through the shared love of making. 🌎

These beautiful handmade flowers, created by members of our community, are now blooming on our donor wall as a celebration of the support that is helping us rewild the Salmon Arm Arts Centre garden. 🌿💚

Tired of scrolling through Netflix and never deciding what to watch? Get up off the couch and join us tomorrow at Marionette Winery for a different kind of night out!

PeterJoch is a local artist with an intriguing art style. Enjoy a beverage and nibbles while listening to Peter talk about his process and what he means by rescuing Google images.
