The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum Dedicated to preserving the military heritage of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment and other central and northern Alberta military units.

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum is dedicated to preserving the military heritage of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment and other central and northern Alberta military units. Since 1997, we have been located at the Prince of Wales Armouries Heritage Centre, the building where the regiment was based from 1920 to 1965. The museum features two galleries and a series of open area displays tracing

the history of the regiment and military history of Canada. Artefacts on display include uniforms and military equipment, memorabilia, weapons and ceremonial artefacts from the First World War to the present. The museum also stores a vast collection of books, photographic, archival, documentary artefacts dating from the late nineteenth century onwards. The museum is operated by The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum Foundation, a non-profit foundation. Day-to-day operations are carried out by a small staff and a group of volunteers who work in classifying, cataloguing, and storing the artefacts, or in other tasks related to displays and records. Additionally, the museum office is the home of The Fortyniner, the annual journal of The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Association.

Coming up at the end of this month! We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!!

Join the regimental family at the Edmonton Inn on June 27 for the Military Collectors Club of Canada Convention and visit The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum’s exhibition displays.

The Museum will be presenting two feature tables:

• “Around the Dinner Table” - Experience how seemingly ordinary homefront wartime artifacts often preserve extraordinary overseas stories.

• “Loyal Edmonton Regiment, 1939–1946” - A display showcasing original uniforms while telling the stories of three Loyal Eddies who served throughout the Second World War.

We look forward to sharing these unique pieces of military history and connecting with fellow military history enthusiasts.

In honour of International Archives Week 2026, The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum Archives is highlighting our Mons Bugle exhibit, which includes elements from both the archival and artefact holdings to tell part of the Armistice story.
The Mons Bugle played the cease fire bugle call on 11 November 1918. Recently, LERMM’s archivist, Marjory Olsen, replaced the original cease fire order displayed in the case with a reproduction. Exposure to light in the gallery over time was beginning to cause the original order to fade. Replacing the original with a reproduction allows visitors to view the cease fire order without further damage to the original. The original is safely stored in the archival storage space and can still be viewed on request.

From the Museum of the D-Day Dodgers we all recognize the significance of this day 82 years ago with Canadians landing on Juno Beach. On this day in 1944 the Loyal Edmonton Regiment was in Italy moving north and East in the Battle of the Liri Valley.
We will Remember Them!
