Stride is a not-for-profit artist run centre located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are enrolling in the Restrictions Exemption Program.

The summer has been flying and we hope you have all been getting some sunshine!

Claudia is halfway through her residency and has been deep in the creative process and also making time for some studio visits!

AJ’s exhibition, Healthy Appetite is on until October 9th! Come out to see the work and talk to staff about it!

We also have a poll up on our linktree for our friends and family of Stride to fill out! We want to know how people are feeling about Stride, our programming and upcoming events.

Stride will be the location for Soul to Sole hosted by Masani St. Rose!
For 3 evenings in September, come kick off a soulful journey from head to toe with this chill 3-week series that’s all about good vibes and connecting from soul to sole.

September 14th, 21st and 28th.
6:30-7:30pm.

Stride Gallery has extended our 2026 Call for Submissions!

NEW DEADLINE: August 9th, 11:59pm MST. No late submissions will be considered.

This Call for Submissions offers both a studio residency and an exhibition for each selected artist.

For this call, we will be programming 7 artists, with residencies starting in Winter 2027 until Summer 2029.

This is an annual Call for Submissions, taking applications each Spring, and subsequently programming 4 artists each year, with their residencies beginning Fall of the following year.

Programming Philosophy & Description:

Each artist will begin with a 3-month long studio residency where they are encouraged to create, research, and experiment in any way they see fit. Through peer mentorship, staff will work alongside the artist helping them reach self-appointed goals and intentions. Whether that be support in application and grant writing, learning technical skills such as installation and strike of exhibitions, or helping them reach new networks of artists and curators to build their community.

After completing their residency, the artist will create an exhibition in our gallery space. We’ll be mentoring the artists through the process of creating an exhibition throughout their residency; this model gives artists a chance to both be in process and present their work to the community. Each exhibition will be 8-10 weeks long, and will take place directly after the end of the artists’ residency.

We also want to relay that artists are not expected to create a full exhibition in the 3-month residency; the two parts are not interlinked unless that’s the artist’s intention. Exhibitions can feature older work, experiments made throughout the studio residency, etc.

It’s the last few days of Simulations by Kyle Anderson-Nguyen.
We also still have copies of his publication until the end of the show.

Stride Staff had a great time with Kyle during his Studio Residency and we had fun talking to gallery visitors who came in and viewed the work and asked questions. We look forward to seeing where his talents take him!

This exhibition is on until July 17th, 2026.

EXTENDED!!

CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS

Stride Gallery is looking for dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors.

Over the past five years, Stride Gallery has made a transition to an entirely new board of directors. With the help of these new QTBIPOC board members, we are focusing our efforts on reworking the board model and processes. We require assistance in pursuing our ongoing dismantling of systematic oppression that has been historically present in artist-run centers. To do this, we need to continue onboarding perspectives into Stride Gallery.

We are seeking applications from individuals with an emphasis on BIPOC communities, persons with Disabilities, persons who are in the LGBTQ2S+ community, and people whose perspectives in arts communities have historically not been heard. We are also seeking members who are especially proficient in accounting and financials. Through these new additions, we hope to fill necessary gaps in our organization to strive towards a brighter future. Please note that Stride Gallery is welcoming of applicants with no prior Board experience.
Specific expertise we are looking for include but are not limited to:

Local artists and emerging arts workers (institutional training not required)
Knowledge of fund development for non-profit organizations
Knowledge in studio management and development
Knowledge of moving organizations and lease negotiations
Financial proficiency in non-profit organizations

Hello Everyone!

You still have 2 weeks to get one or more of these amazing Riso Prints from the Stride Editions Vol 3. Fundraiser! Get them for yourself or friends or family.

We are grateful to all of the artists who so generously provided artwork and have been supporting Stride! We’ve made some new friends and got reacquainted with some longtime friends of Stride Gallery!

The purchase of these prints go towards the continued operation of Stride so that we can keep bringing you all great programming with talented artists and fantastic exhibitions and fun events!
