✨ Your votes have been counted! ✨ This month's People's Choice Award is: Leilah Ward

"I’m currently working with pastels, using photographs as reference. I am fascinated by light – especially light on water. I go so deeply into these pastel paintings, that it feels like a moment of quiet and stillness carrying me away from the stresses of the world."

👉 Our People's Choice Award is an ongoing event at A Place for the Arts! Come explore our newest collection and take part by voting for your favourites. At the end of each art installation, we do a draw from your votes for a $20 gift card! This month’s winner did not want to be identified - but stop by to cast your vote!

✨ Name: Erica Tripp✨

✨ I’m a watercolour and ink artist working from my little home in the forest of Gilmour, Ontario. I'm originally from Sudbury, Ontario, but lived on the west coast for a long time, where I worked in tourism, film, and social media marketing. We recently moved back to be closer to family.

My inspiration comes from the forest all around me. I find excitement in the many wildlife encounters I have just from my back window. I hope to one day have my own studio in the woods.

✨ Name: Emil Varga✨

✨ Working with watercolour and mixed media in a representational manner, I use line and colour to create my paintings. Through exaggeration and colour manipulation, I go beyond the obvious when interpreting my subjects, in order to emphasize elements that I find most compelling.

✨ Name: Debbie Christie✨

✨ Working with bits and pieces whether it be glass or fabric is a very meditative process for me. To start with a few cuts and create something beautiful and useful as a gift or a piece of art that others enjoy is what Stained Glass works give to me. I started about 20 years ago in Stained Glass with a gift card for classes and have been hooked ever since.
