2026 North American Conker Champion Crowned in Annapolis Royal

The 2026 North American Conker Championship was held Saturday October 17 in Annapolis Royal at the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. Fierce (but friendly) competition was the order of the day as 32 contestants vied for the coveted Crofton Chalice. Round after round, with smashed chestnuts littering the ground, the field eventually narrowed to a final match between Hants County resident Reuben Gilbert and visiting Australian Desly Alsleben. A final battle ensued, with Gilbert reigning victorious to become the 2026 North American Conker Champion.

The Crofton Chalice, named for tournament founder Peter Crofton Davies, was presented by co-founder Simon Bonnington and Town Crier Christine Igot.

New to many Nova Scotians, but an old tradition for anyone of British heritage, conkers has been making a reappearance in Annapolis Royal in recent years. For more information of the game of conkers, visit https://annapolisconkers.wordpress.com/

WHO will have their name added to the coveted Crofton Chalice this year? We'll find out tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, during the 2026 North American Conker Championship!
Registration from 9:30am - a modest fee of $5 is requested. Competition commences 10:30am
And so, let the competition commence, may your eye be true, let your arm be strong, let your strike be swift and sharp, and let your elbow and thigh avoid excessive bruising on the follow-through! Let your Conker hold firm, and let your opponent's nut be shattered! And may the best nut win!
