HOW TO PLAY CONKERS 🌳🌰🍂
Conkers is a traditional autumn game popular in Great Britain and Ireland where two players compete using horse chestnuts (called conkers) threaded onto pieces of string. Each player takes turns striking their opponent's hanging conker until one of them breaks.
🌰 Drill a hole through a horse chestnut and thread a knotted string through it.
🌰 Player one holds their conker still at arm's length, hanging down by the string. Player two wraps their string around a finger, swings their conker, and tries to hit the opponent's conker.
🌰 Players take turns (usually five strikes each) until one conker breaks off the string. The unbroken conker wins.
The North American Conker Championship takes place annually at the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, and we are proud to supply some of the conkers from the beautiful horse chestnut tree at North Hills Museum. This year's competition will be held on October 17th, so start practicing!
