House of European History Open 7 days a week. Entrance is free, with audio-guides in 24 languages. It is an initiative by the European Parliament, and opened on 6 May 2017.

The House of European History is a history museum in Brussels, Belgium, focusing on the recent history of the continent of Europe and the European integration process. The museum offers a unique perspective on the history of the continent. It takes a transnational approach to the main events and phenomena that have united and divided Europeans through time. It explores the diverse legacies and interpretations of its history. While learning about Europe’s past, visitors are encouraged to think critically about its present in order to engage in its future. The museum is open seven days a week and entrance is free. An interactive tablet provides the museum content in 24 languages. Guided tours, resources for schools and special trails for families with children are available in French, Dutch, German and English. Moderation policy

AI in museums: helpful tool or a thread? 🏛️

Whether we have an official strategy or not, many of us are already using AI in our daily work. But how do we use these tools without losing sight of our values? 👀

Our colleagues Vito Maltese and Tatiana Tumashik were in Vilnius for the NEMO - Network of European Museum Organisations Conference to explore this topic!

With colleagues from across Europe they discussed how museums can use AI critically and ethically.

From Madrid’s buzzing nightlife to Music Moves with Brussels Museums and our lunchtime tour A Very European Playlist, music takes centre stage this month.

This drawing 'Siluetas en un concierto' (Silhouettes in a Concert) by Spanish artist Ceesepe, created between 1975 and 1980, depicts two people dancing, with two
musicians playing in the background.

A self-taught illustrator, Ceesepe became one of the most prominent artists of Madrid’s fanzine scene. His work documented the city’s vibrant nightlife in the late 1970s and early 1980s, reflecting the creativity and energy of the 'Movida madrileña'. Emerging during Spain’s democratic transition following the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975, this diverse cultural movement brought together underground music, visual arts and independent publications. Initially circulating
through alternative networks, these forms of expression eventually became part of mainstream culture, raising questions about the relationship between counterculture, commercialisation and political recognition.
