WEDNESDAY COLOUR OF THE WEEK: GREEN 💚
Fresh, calm, earthy, bright, moody, zingy… green can be just about anything.
It’s the colour of new growth, nature and renewal — and one of those colours that can completely change depending on what you put beside it.
A few fun green facts:
🌿 Our eyes are particularly good at seeing different shades of green.
🎨 In traditional painting, green is made by mixing blue and yellow — but change the blue, change the yellow, and you can create an enormous range of greens.
🔴 Red is green’s complementary colour, which means the two really make each other POP when placed side by side.
🌳 Artists rarely need just one green. Think sage, olive, lime, emerald, forest, mint, moss, khaki, jade and teal… and that’s barely getting started.
🖌️ One of our favourite painting tricks? Add a tiny touch of red, pink or burnt sienna to a green that feels too green. It knocks it back and creates a much more interesting, natural colour.
So this Wednesday, we’re giving GREEN its moment.
What’s your green?
Bright lime? Soft sage? Deep forest? Emerald? Or are you firmly in the “green is not my colour” camp?
