So people make 5 year plans, it’s a thing. No matter how good I was at planning though I couldn’t have planned how the last five years would turn out!

If you had told me that in five years I would:
•open a business and actually learn how to run it
•learn to teach art, run workshops, paint in front of people
•grow from representing three artists to over thirty
•run charity exhibitions and raise money for local people
•participate in two Affordable Art Fairs without feeling like an imposter
•stick to my plan of only stocking local artists
•go from a team of me to a team of 6
• put almost 300k back into the pockets of local women!

But yellowhouseart is not about the stats it’s about the people and over the last five years there’s been a few - the people who came and never left, the artists who trusted me with their art, the ones who came for a lesson or workshop and became family, the kids who remind me everyday why hanging out with them is the best thing ever, the visitors who found themselves sharing their stories when all they planned was a window shop, all the people who said yellowhouse was what they didn’t know they were looking for, the people who used it as a safe space as much as I do. These are the people who make the gallery the special place it is.

So thankyou everyone! I didn’t know five years ago that any of this would happen but I’m glad it all did. I’m looking forward to sharing the next five years!

This lady is literally the walking definition of friendship!

I was in a bit of a bind last week with my wonderful offsider Georgia unwell and me with a messed up knee! We had committed to going to Brisbane for the and it was looking like I was going alone! But this amazing woman joined me for the bumpiest truck ride ever and four massive days of art fair mayhem - Deb literally worked her butt off to help me out and this post is my way of saying thankyou 🩷

Not only is Deb an amazing friend she is also a very talented artist and I have a sneaky few of her woven works still available after the fair so pop by and check them out.

I am truly blessed for having a friend like you - love ya x

How cool is Caroline!

I wanted to share a few of my fave moments from the Brisbane .

I saw Caroline and her walker (yes those are fairy lights) near the stand and commented on how cool it was. She was waiting for her son and we were chatting. When he found us and asked if she had found anything she liked she turned, pointed to my orange poppies and said “yes im taking that because it’s happy”. I said “but it’s bigger than you!” And we laughed because really what better reason to buy art than because it’s happy?

It ended up being her 90th birthday present and meeting her made my day. A woman who knows what she wants and allows herself to have it without question is someone to be admired. So thankyou Caroline I honestly hope I’m as cool as you when I’m 90!

There’s not a lot of words Brissy because you blew us away!

You LOVE your art and apparently you loved ours as well. To all of you who bought our art, gave us kind words, cheered us on - thankyou! To all of you who now follow us, are getting commissions from us and maybe even those of you who now know where Wagga is - thankyou!

Supporting our small business has a direct impact on real people in regional areas so not only do you now have beautiful art in your lives but you’ve given our artists a massive boost.

Cheers Brissy, we love you, we will be back next year 👋 Maggie x

Omg…….

I don’t even know what to say Brissy. You have no idea how far the beautiful support you have shown us goes! To a small business like mine and to the gorgeous artists that I represent the way you have embraced our work is just fabulous. I don’t have words.

Just thankyou, Maggie x

I can’t even! Brissy thankyou! We had the best day. The artworks flew out the door and we met the most amazing, encouraging (and again today) stylish people!!! You embraced us and our art and we so appreciate it.

As a small business and regional gallery it’s often a bit lonely and hard going but weekends like this make it all worth it so cheers!

Maggie (and 11 other super happy artists) x

GUESS WHAT!

If you are not up here in Brissy you can be super sneaky and grab your own piece of the because I just made ALL OF THE PRODUCTS ACTIVE on the website!!!

If you do love something you can purchase it and I promise I will not sell it up here (in fact I’ll drive it all 1300km back to Wagga)!

Because Wagga is where my heart is…

What have you done for yourself this week?

In a crazy busy week where I’m paddling as fast as I can I did two things for myself… gave myself a couple of hours with my paints and snuck off with for a movie afternoon (who doesn’t love an afternoon with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci)…. It reminded me that when your head is spinning with the literally huge list of things that need doing, sometimes you just need to step away (and eat popcorn with one of your besties…)
