Introducing Wayne!!!

He is an absolute legend, has been painting with me every Tuesday and Thursday for the last five years and is probably the highest selling artist in the gallery! His paintings are loved around Wagga and collected by so many people.

If you would like to see some of Wayne’s work pop in to the gallery and we will happily show you 😊

Five years. Same view. A very different yellowhouseart.

The first photo was taken at our very first painting workshop, five years ago.

I look at it now and can still remember how exciting it was having a group of people sitting around those tables, painting, laughing, drinking a little champagne and actually coming along to something I had created.

And then there’s the second photo.
The same view today.

It’s a little more cluttered. A LOT more colourful. There’s art everywhere, supplies squeezed into every available space, kids coming through after school, adults painting at night, birthday parties, workshops, Creative Escapes, artists dropping in and out and usually something half-finished on an easel.

Five years ago I really had no idea what this place would become.

There have been lots of changes along the way, plenty of making-it-up-as-I-go, some very big ideas, a few questionable ones 😂 and an incredible number of people who have walked through those doors.

But I think my favourite thing is that, five years later, people are still gathering around our tables to make things.

And that was really the whole point.

Happy five years to our little creative space. Look how far we’ve come. 💛

WEDNESDAY COLOUR OF THE WEEK: GREEN 💚

Fresh, calm, earthy, bright, moody, zingy… green can be just about anything.

It’s the colour of new growth, nature and renewal — and one of those colours that can completely change depending on what you put beside it.

A few fun green facts:

🌿 Our eyes are particularly good at seeing different shades of green.

🎨 In traditional painting, green is made by mixing blue and yellow — but change the blue, change the yellow, and you can create an enormous range of greens.

🔴 Red is green’s complementary colour, which means the two really make each other POP when placed side by side.

🌳 Artists rarely need just one green. Think sage, olive, lime, emerald, forest, mint, moss, khaki, jade and teal… and that’s barely getting started.

🖌️ One of our favourite painting tricks? Add a tiny touch of red, pink or burnt sienna to a green that feels too green. It knocks it back and creates a much more interesting, natural colour.

So this Wednesday, we’re giving GREEN its moment.

What’s your green?
Bright lime? Soft sage? Deep forest? Emerald? Or are you firmly in the “green is not my colour” camp?
