Royal Bull's Head Inn Toowoomba

Royal Bull's Head Inn Toowoomba Opens on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month. The Royal Bull's Head Inn is a 1850s Inn owned by the National Trust of Queensland. A must visit in Toowoomba!

Explore a nineteenth-century inn built by an ex-convict! The Royal Bull’s Head Inn was acquired by National Trust of Queensland over forty years ago. Discover rooms that seem as if their nineteenth-century occupants have never left. Some feature artefacts similar to those used in the Inn’s earliest trading days, others the furniture used and loved by the members of the Lynch family. Marvel at the

utensils in the old kitchen, the part of the Inn which has seen least change. Explore the many rooms to see if you can determine the use of different artefacts from 150 years ago! Stroll through the rambling garden surrounding the Inn. Visiting the Royal Bull’s Head Inn is like entering a doorway into the early days of settlement on the Darling Downs.

A cuppa for a very special milestone! β˜•πŸŽ‰

Last Saturday our wonderful volunteers at Royal Bull's Head Inn swapped their usual tasks for teapots, helping our neighbours at Drayton State School celebrate an extraordinary milestone β€” 175 years as Queensland's oldest continually operating state school!

The community turned out in force, including Toowoomba Mayor Geoff McDonald, Deputy Mayor Rebecca Vonhoff, and councillors, Toowoomba Region all enjoying a good cuppa, scones, jam and cream served up in true Heritage Inn style.

It was a wonderful afternoon celebrating history, community and connection β€” and we loved being part of it. Congratulations Drayton State School on 175 remarkable years! πŸŽ‚

Meet the speakers joining us this July. πŸ‘‡

Jill Rogers (QUT) will trace the origins of QUT's Digital Collections, how materials connected to early Drayton and Toowoomba were gathered and why preserving them matters for generations to come.
Dr Lyndal O'Gorman brings something more personal: items from her own family collection, including digitized slides of Drayton and the district as it once was.

Together, they'll tell the story of a place through the objects its people left behind.

The scaffolding is up and the story is about to begin. 🎨

We're thrilled to announce the start of the Royal Bull's Head Inn Mural β€” a celebration of Australian storytelling and rural heritage, right here in our neighbourhood.

With the blessing of our incredible community and a talented artist ready to bring the walls to life, this project is more than a mural. It's a tribute to the people, landscapes, and yarns that shaped this place.

The weather's on our side and we couldn't be more excited. Stay tuned β€” we'll be sharing updates as this one comes to life, brush stroke by brush stroke.
