The Petyarre Sisters 🌸
Jeannie, Rosemary and Gloria are renowned Anmatyerre artists from the Utopia region in the Northern Territory . Part of a celebrated family of artist, the sisters are key figures in the Utopia art movement, which has brought international recognition to Central Desert Aboriginal Art.
Each sister brings a unique style to her work, yet they all share a deep connection to the country, dreaming stories and women’s ceremonial practices.

🌸 Celebrate the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers with Us—Indoors! 🌸

To mark the beginning of this year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, we’re bringing the beauty inside with a stunning showcase of Aboriginal art from Utopia, located 300km northeast of Alice Springs.

🖼️ Featuring works by renowned artists:
Polly Ngale, Jeannie Mills Pwerle, Rosemary Petyarre, Gloria Petyarre, Jeannie Petyarre & Janet Golder Kngwarreye.

Their artworks tell rich cultural stories of Bush Plum, Medicine Leaves, and Bush Yam—important bush foods and healing plants deeply rooted in Anmatyerre culture. These are more than just ingredients—they are sacred Dreaming stories that connect people to Country, Ancestors, and Law.

Charmine Pwerle 900x1470
One of our favourite pieces by the talented Charmine
~ Women’s Business ( birthing) ~

This painting holds a special significance for Charmaine, as it captures the final story shared by her late mother, Barbara Weir, with her and her daughters—a legacy she is committed to honoring through her art. At its core, the story revolves around childbirth and ‘the old time ways,’ offering a glimpse into an era long before hospitals and doctors became the norm in the Bush. This narrative, passed down from her mother, is a treasured gift that Charmaine cherishes and will pass on to her children.
