One man. A piano. And somehow, a full orchestra.

Ash Morse is coming to Tenterfield on Sunday 28 June — and if you've never heard of him, that's about to change.

Ash is an award-winning pianist, vocalist and composer touring with Arts North West. The afternoon runs across two 45-minute sets — the first a journey through his back catalogue of original compositions, moving from intimate and nostalgic to joyful and triumphant. The second is the full live performance of 'Nowhere Land', his ambitious 2026 concept album.

'Nowhere Land' is 45 minutes of orchestral and vocal storytelling, performed with studio-recorded backing that fills the room in a way you won't expect from a single performer. Reviewers have compared it to Bohemian Rhapsody and Sgt. Peppers. We'll let you be the judge.

And for the occasion — we're bringing out the grand piano. It's been sitting quietly in the wings for a while now. Time to let it sing.

We're hosting something a little different at the Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts Theatre this May — and we think Tenterfield is exactly the right place for it.

Richard Bell grew up in Charleville. He knows what it means to live in a small country town — the pride in it, and the frustration of feeling like the big end of town makes all the decisions.

He's coming to Tenterfield on Saturday 30 May to ask a question that's been on a lot of people's minds:

Does the system actually work for communities like ours?

Australia's Constitution has been in place since 1901 — written at a time before cars, before phones, before the internet, before most of the challenges we're navigating today. Richard wants to sit down with everyday Australians, in the towns that built this country, and have an honest conversation about what's working, what isn't, and what we'd want from a system designed for the world we actually live in now.

No agenda. No lectures. Just a genuine discussion — and every voice at the table counts.

We're thrilled to announce the Festival of Small Halls NSW & Queensland Autumn Tour 2026 — and what a lineup it is.

Canadian banjo troubadour Old Man Luedecke and Queensland's own beloved The Barleyshakes Duo are hitting the road together from 20 May to 7 June, bringing live music to 11 regional communities across NSW and Queensland — from Wardell on the NSW coast all the way out to Augathella in remote Queensland, finishing up in Tenterfield.

This is the 𝟱𝟬𝙩𝙝 𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩-𝙛𝙤𝙧-𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, and we couldn't be more proud. Expect community meals, warm halls, and the kind of magic that only happens when great musicians meet great local crowds.

Thank you, Tenterfield!

We were blown away by the support and turnout across all of the events we hosted in March. It’s been such a fantastic start to the year for the School of Arts, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came along and supported live music, film and theatre in our community.

April may be a little quieter, but behind the scenes our small team is hard at work planning some very special events and new museum exhibits that we can’t wait to share with you over the next few months.

In the meantime, the Tenterfield Film Club has two screenings coming up this month:
