After much consideration and deliberation, we have arrived at the decision to cancel the 2026 Tenterfield Show and Shine.
We understand that this decision will be disappointing to many people, and we want you to know that we have not rushed in arriving at this conclusion.
A great majority of our participants travel from as far away as the Sunshine Coast and the Hunter Valley, with many more in between and along the way. We recognise that with the recent turmoil impacting fuel prices amongst other goods, the cost of travelling to and participating in our Show will have jumped considerably and suddenly.
In addition to this, quite a number of the fantastic local businesses that provide the financial and in-kind support that helps make our Show run have been exposed to these price rises. We felt that asking them to outlay more of their resources at such a time of uncertainty was not fair to anyone.
It may have been possible to offer a trimmed down version to cater to our many local supporters, or postpone later into the year to a part of the calendar already full of other great events.
Ultimately, we felt this was not in keeping with our goal of offering the very best local car show possible that continues to grow each year and do its best to bring support to the Tenterfield Community.
We will take this time to plan for our 2027 Show, aiming to deliver the very best one yet, alongside our long term goal of opening the Museum on a regular basis for the enjoyment of the general community both far and wide.
