Thank you to everyone who joined us last Sunday for the grand unveiling of our latest exhibition at the Dragon's Lair Gallery, 'Jewels of Tucoerah,' featuring the incredible talent of local artist Richie Vez!

Richie Vez is a musician and visual artist based in Lugarno. His new exhibition utilises driftwood collected along the shores of the Georges River to create sculptural forms presented alongside his unique resin paintings. These works respond to the creative force of nature and are a collaboration with the river.

This exhibition is on display until Sunday 28 June 2026. For enquiries about purchasing any artworks, please feel free to contact our team.

Throughout National Reconciliation Week, Hurstville Museum & Gallery invites our community to reflect, learn and engage in meaningful conversations about reconciliation. This year's theme 'All In' reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

Until the 3rd of June, visitors can take part in our colouring-in station and explore informational resources in our Snapshot Gallery, offering an opportunity for all ages to learn more about the significance of this important week.

✨ Create your own wish flag ✨

When you visit the 'Woven from a hundred flowers' exhibition in our main gallery, take a moment to contribute to our shared installation 💛

Inspired by the colourful prayer flags found in Nepal, you’re invited to create your own wish flag by writing or drawing a hope for the world, a kind message for others, or something in the exhibition that moved you.

Choose a colour, make your mark, and hang it alongside others to grow this collective expression of connection. 🌈

Free to take part during your visit to the exhibition. We can’t wait to see your wishes take flight.

'Woven from a hundred flowers' celebrates the rich culture and diverse stories of the Nepalese community of the Georges River region and is on display until Sunday 30 August.

Thangka is a unique and ancient art form. Originating in Tibet in the 7th century, it is closely linked to Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhism. More than simply decoration, this art practice holds deep spiritual significance and is used for recording and reflecting on the Buddha’s life and teachings. It has a distinct appearance, typically featuring intricate designs, symbols, and vibrant colours that depict various Buddhist‑centred scenes and philosophies. Thangka’s recognisable style has become synonymous with Nepal.

Explore this work and more at our current main gallery exhibition 'Woven from a hundred flowers'सयौं थुँगा फूलका हामी एउटै माला नेपाली, which celebrates the rich culture and diverse stories of the Nepalese community of the Georges River region. Now on display until 30 August 2026.
