Have you heard about the white cats of the Pylon? 🐈 To mark International Cat Day, we're revisiting one of the Bridge's quirkiest stories...

Between 1948 and 1971, the Pylon Lookout was operated by Mrs Rentoul – a dedicated cat lover who at one stage owned up to 60 white cats. The cats lived in the rooftop cattery and soon became a popular tourist attraction in their own right. Such was their popularity that Mrs Rentoul ended up making a small profit selling the kittens as souvenirs.

Often spotted walking along the parapet walls, they became quite an eye-catching feature of the Pylon. A fun and furry chapter in the South East Pylon's history – one of many Bridge stories now told inside the BridgeMuseum. 🐾
