School Holiday Workshop
for 12 -17 year olds
Join artist June Golland next Wednesday 7 October for a full day of creative play in this hands-on workshop that invites young people to pull apart discarded soft toys, dolls and found materials and reassemble them into entirely new creatures. Part sculpture, part creature-making laboratory and part exercise in imaginative mischief, it begins with an abundant collection of pre-loved toys and materials that participants can cut, combine, stitch, attach, embellish and transform. A teddy bear might acquire six legs. A rabbit can grow wings. Two creatures can become one. Something cute can become strange; something ugly can become beautiful. There is no correct outcome and no particular level of artistic skill is required — the emphasis is on experimentation, humour, invention and the pleasure of making something unexpected with your hands.
