Following the Newstead Open Studios art trail is a wonderful opportunity to step right into the beating heart of an artist’s private
world, and find out.

Pick up a map and guide from local businesses or the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre, and look out for the trademark red signs and flags.

21-22 & 28-29 March, 10-4pm.

For more than a decade, artists of Newstead and surrounds have been opening their private spaces each year to a curious and delighted public. Following the map to 20 artists in 14 different studios in town, in the bush, down a dirt track, feels a bit like going on a treasure hunt, and there is plenty of treasure to be found.

From the work itself, fresh from busy hands or dusted of from the back-catalog, to surprising conversations with makers, to the intriguing marvel of the various workspaces themselves, there is so much to discover.

Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring your questions. And bring your wallet… in case you find a treasure you just can’t leave behind.
