"The Teddy Bears' Picnic" melody was written in 1907 by American composer John Walter Bratton, and lyrics added in 1932 by Irish songwriter Jimmy Kennedy.
This piano sheet music, part of the museum collection, fits perfectly in the house museum which reflects May's life at Nutcote in the early 1930s. I wonder if May ever played this song...

Happy school holidays!

These photos were sent to us by Lyana’s Grandma, who helped make her Book Week costume out of real gum leaves!! Lyana won Best Dressed at her school’s Book Week parade — well deserved, we think. 💚

We love that May’s characters are still inspiring younger readers, and that they can bring her magic to life by dressing up.

You don’t have to have a grandma as talented as Lyana’s to be a Gumnut Baby! We have dress-ups in our kids’ room, available for our younger visitors who would like to experience the fun of dressing up.
