Every brushstroke is a reminder of what we must protect before it disappears. 💚

🖤 The beautiful Baudin’s Black Cockatoo is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. This magnificent greyish-black cockatoo, with its large bill and distinctive call, is one of Australia’s five black cockatoo species.

🌿 Sadly, the population of this beautiful bird has declined due to habitat degradation, the removal of nesting hollows, and the loss of vital food resources. It is now listed as an endangered species.

🎨 At the “Feathers and Fur” Exhibition, you’ll have the chance to see the stunning painting “Ho**ey Nut Feast” by James Hough capturing the spirit and beauty of these special cockatoos.
James recently visited the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in Western Australia and was able to witness these beautiful birds feeding on Marri Gum pods commonly called Ho**ey Nuts. He was alerted to them by the loud noise of them cracking the nuts and the leftovers dropping on the ground.

🖌️ James will be in residence throughout the exhibition from Thursday June 4 to Monday June 8 painting at his easel. Come and meet James, admire his original artworks and merchandise. Entry is free ✨

Creating the idea for this painting was to create a visual representation of the beauty that we often forget about. The beauty that lives amongst the rugged landscape. A land that is exposed and never left untouched by the enduring hot summer sun.
