Brad’s family have a long history with SMR, with both Brad’s father Bruce and Uncle Kenny also working at SMR. We appreciate that we’re able to share these here with you.

What a fantastic collection of photos!

It’s been 43 years since the last locomotive steamed her way into the history books at South Maitland Railways Pty Ltd.

After more than 88 years of service, the last day of operations on 10th June 1983 saw the end of steam coal haulage at SMR.

Tomorrow marks 43 years since this day.

The date is the 10th of June 1983 and SMR 31 is bringing in the last revenue service from Neath Washery that SMR 10 class would haul over the South Maitland Railway network.

Tomorrow, we will show case photos that Kieth took back at the depot when SMR 31 and 22 arrive into the depot for the last time.
