This photo belonging to Bill Caldwell of the 1967 flood shows the fig tree ( removed in 1986).
Maclean Showground in flood is nowhere as great a picture as the real thing! Starting tomorrow, the really big day is Wednesday-COME TO THE SHOW!

NOT something we need this coming week( COME TO THE SHOW this week 21-22 April 2026)- but some (gentle) rain AFTER the show would be very welcome.,
Probably 1920s flood.

Another win to Palmers Channel- looking closely ( as well as you can with old photos,)you can see a fan of cane stalks in the back, preserved galore, jams and pickles perhaps, and beside various piles of home grown vegetables.
Not sure what year-maybe just a little later than the previous photo. District exhibits included those of Chatsworth, Harwood and Tyndale as well.
COME TO MACLEAN SHOW NEXT WEEK- Sorry no District exhibits however!🤷‍♀️

1911- and Palmers Channel won in the District Display at the Maclean Show( then the Lower Clarence Agricultural Society Show)
Maybe something to consider for future shows?
I know our area is no longer as rural as it once was but what a competition it could be - even for a one-off!
