Powerhouse Gallery

Powerhouse Gallery The PowerHouse Gallery is a student run initiative which provides a professional gallery space for UTAS students.

The PowerHouse Gallery is located on the Inveresk campus above Blue Café.

*Minutes from Gallery meetings available on request* Based at the Inveresk Campus in Launceston, above Blue Café, the PowerHouse Gallery is an art space which displays the work of aspiring visual and performing artists currently enrolled at the University of Tasmania. The gallery was reestablished in 2009 and has previously

nurtured the early development of Tasmania’s best and most well-known contemporary artists. The gallery offers an opportunity for all students of the Tasmanian College of the Arts to exhibit their work in a gallery environment. As a committee we are keen to encourage students to push the boundaries of contemporary art and allow the community to see the potential of Tasmania’s emerging artists. With new exhibitions showing every two weeks, the gallery remains fluid, ensuring that there is a constant turn-over of artworks. The gallery also provides mentoring for students in a commercial environment, teaching the multiple disciplines of running an art gallery in the real world. It is over-seen by the Tasmanian University Union but run by a committee of dedicated volunteers. As a gallery we value promoting the arts and providing equal opportunities to all students and artistic medium with a variety of exhibitions. The gallery has also previously been involved in the University Summer School program, University College program and Junction 2010. Students interested in exhibiting at the gallery can find the information sheet and application form in the 'scribd' section here on our Facebook, or can email the gallery at [email protected]
