Kel's Art

Kel's Art this page is to display some of my Art works. The sculptures are all 'one of' pieces and made from recycled materials.

I hope to also display some of the jewellery pieces I am making. I love creating, making and working on Art projects. I graduated from Curtin Uni in 1998, BA Vis Art. I have been drawing and making art my whole life and am now focusing just on creating Art and making stuff from scrap metal, old tools and wood.

Had a small crutch piece, not sure what wood this is. I decided to try to turn a small bowl. I like the end result but it has too much rot to be anything but a nice small bowl.

Turned the Burl around and started to work on the top section. But I noticed the large fissures went all the way through. I thought this was a big Burl but I had turned another Burl which is bigger but not as thick.

Started to turn a big Jarrah Burl yesterday. It is about 400mm X 300mm at its widest, and about 130mm thick. Given the age and dryness of the wood and how dense it is this is hard going. The results are just great. The grain of the Burl is just beautiful. Going to turn it around and work on the top today. More photos to follow.
