A collective exhibition of LGBTQI+ artists connected to Ipswich, exploring identity, place and community.

Pink Lemonade showcases a group of artists within the LGBTQI+ community, who work, live, and have history with the Ipswich/Tulmur region. These diverse artists range from emerging to established, and thematically explore identity, place, the body, and concerns over sustainability and mental health. Their diverse mediums include mixed media, painting, costuming, animation, photography, collage and textiles. At a time when the rights and freedoms of LGBTQI+ people are being threatened across the world, this exhibition is a proud celebration of identity and community. This exhibition is curated by Maya Kuzman and Elsie Salkeld, and managed by Kat Morrice.

Join artists Kate Roberts and Beth Barrett from IPSARI to discover the art of lino printing in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Over the session, you’ll create your own design from concept to final print: sketching your motif, transferring it onto a lino block, carving intricate details with professional tools, inking the surface, and pulling your first impression.

The highlight? You’ll create a quarter-block design that, when repeated and aligned, reveals a stunning full Mandala-style image—a beautiful blend of geometry, symmetry, and creativity.

No prior experience needed, just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

On Planar is a group exhibition featuring Magandjin/Brisbane-based artists Felicity Celeste Bruce, Oliver Strauss and Yingxi Xu. ‘Planar’ is a specialised mathematic term which, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, describes ‘having a flat surface that continues in all directions’. Bruce, Strauss and Xu explore this idea through their contemporary practices of geometric abstraction and conceptual painting.

The title, a linguistic ode to the modernist method, en plein air, overlaps the distinctiveness between the artists’ selected works. Though not involving outdoor painting, On Planar critically and experimentally addresses the unique observation and production process of abstract art from modernism to now. The artists employ methods such as technical drawing, hard edge, audience imagination, 留白 (‘leaving blank’), mental/visual kerfuffles, and juxtaposition. Together they scrutinise the two-dimensional and physical boundaries of the art object through studio and philosophical inquiries into surface, support and space.
