GRAHAM SETTLES DOWN UNDER.

FORMER BRITISH AIRWAYS Maintenance Engineer Graham Field (38) has a soft spot in his heart for today's unemployed tradesmen, as he migrated unsponsored from the U.K. during the 1982 recession and literally "hu**ed the bluey" around the country for months until striking it lucky with Hunter Pacific in Toowoomba.

After years in the bush, Graham joined Ansett's Sydney Maintenance team in 1986 as a LAME and last year (1991) applied for the Brisbane Airport position of Controller Maintenance Administration, to which he was appointed in February, 1992.

Picture: Graham (seated) discusses design plans for ground support equipment with Line Maintenance Inspector Allan Hoad.

KARL RESEARCHES BACK TO BURKE.

KARL SCHAFER, Shirt Controller at the Ansett Australia Data Centre at Tullamarine, who has been interested in history for as long as he can remember, has a new project. He is doing research on the explorer Robert O'Hara Burke, who was Police Commissioner for the area where Karl now lives.

Karl Schafer (pictured) . . . . I read a lot of political history and became interested in Marxist theory . . . but I was never a political history and became interested in Marxist theory . . . but I was never a political activist.
